The school provided basic paramilitary training for Force 136 operational personnel before they progressed to jungle and advanced operational training. The basic course originally lasted six weeks, later extended to seven weeks to include additional Japanese intelligence instruction. Training covered weapons, map reading, fieldcraft, tactics, demolitions, sabotage, guerrilla warfare, raids and intelligence gathering, with practical exercises lasting up to three days. The school and its outlying camp could accommodate approximately 140 trainees. Additional courses included three weeks of elementary jungle training at Belgaum, emphasizing jungle living, movement and Japanese tactics; a ten-day marine course covering boat handling, navigation, reconnaissance and beach landings; and a three-week industrial sabotage course for selected specialists, including visits to industrial facilities, docks, power stations and telecommunications installations. The document illustrates the breadth of training available to Force 136 personnel preparing for clandestine operations in Asia.","_thumbnail_id":442},"class_list":["post-454","csat-media-element","type-csat-media-element","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","csat-media-element-type-image","csat-chapter-usage-chapter-13"],"media_element_thumbnail":"https:\/\/www.histoiresdecheznous.ca\/v3\/force-136\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/182\/2026\/05\/hs-7-115-40-copy-150x150.jpeg","acf":[],"lang":"en","translations":{"en":454,"fr":456},"pll_sync_post":{},"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.histoiresdecheznous.ca\/v3\/force-136\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/csat-media-element\/454","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.histoiresdecheznous.ca\/v3\/force-136\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/csat-media-element"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.histoiresdecheznous.ca\/v3\/force-136\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/csat-media-element"}],"version-history":[{"count":8,"href":"https:\/\/www.histoiresdecheznous.ca\/v3\/force-136\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/csat-media-element\/454\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":2490,"href":"https:\/\/www.histoiresdecheznous.ca\/v3\/force-136\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/csat-media-element\/454\/revisions\/2490"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.histoiresdecheznous.ca\/v3\/force-136\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/442"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.histoiresdecheznous.ca\/v3\/force-136\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=454"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
