Organizational chart from a Special Operations Executive (SOE) document illustrating the training structure for Force 136 personnel during the Second World War. The chart traces the progression from Force 136 Headquarters through selection and basic training at the Eastern Warfare School (M.E.141) in Poona, India, to specialized and advanced instruction at establishments across India and Ceylon. Training included basic paramilitary skills, jungle survival, wireless telegraphy, marine operations, parachuting, radar aids, intelligence, propaganda and photography. Specialized establishments included M.E.89 at Jessore for parachute and air despatch training, M.E.99 at Calcutta for agent and propaganda instruction, and M.E.25 in Ceylon for advanced operational training. Personnel received individual and collective instruction before being organized into operational teams, equipped and assigned to holding camps in preparation for deployment. The chart illustrates the complexity of Force 136’s training organization and the different stages and specializations through which personnel could progress before entering the field.
