Page 21 of a Force 136 operational record concerning Operation HIPPO in Borneo, August 1945. Identifies Capt. R.K. Cheng (Canada) and four Chinese Canadian sergeants: J. Chiu, R.S.T. Chan, N.M. Low and L. King. The document records the party’s insertion by Catalina aircraft into the SEMUT III area on 10 August 1945. A separate section, “FOLLOW-UP PARTY (not inserted),” identifies Cpl. C.J. Quong [Fong], Sapper K.F. Cheng, Sapper J.M. Wong, Sapper H. Lee, Sapper D.W. Fong, Trooper D. Lam, Trooper D. Mat, Trooper J. Yuen, Pte. E.B.H. Wong, Pte. M.T.Q. Hong, Pte. C.E. Fong and Pte. Y. Eng. Subsequent research has identified Cpl. Quong as Fong. The document describes intelligence objectives concerning enemy forces and the prisoner-of-war camp at Kuching, and explains how rapid developments in the SEMUT III area required changes to the original operational plan.

It also states that all Canadian members of the inserted party were Chinese Canadians previously associated with Operation OBLIVION. Importantly, the follow-up party is explicitly identified as not inserted, distinguishing planned participation from actual deployment.
