The Olympic Park today

In 1992, the Velodrome was turned into the Biodome, which greatly displeased architect Roger Taillibert, who saw it as a great loss for competitive cycling in Montreal and, of course, a dramatic change to his creation.

Even before getting the Games, Montreal wanted a more modern stadium for hosting Expos baseball games. Finally, in 1977, the team moved into the stadium and played there for 27 seasons before Major League Baseball transferred it to another city in 2004. Some Montrealers are still upset about this!

Today, the Olympic Park is the site of all sorts of activities: sporting events, like the first matches played by CF Montreal, concerts by artists like Madonna, Metallica and U2, as well as memorable occasions like the visit of Pope Jean-Paul II.

A cool place to hang

Have you ever been to the Olympic Park? Once a month on summer weekends, you can order takeout from one of many food trucks. There are also skateboard ramps, inflatable games and concerts on the Esplanade.

Summer and winter, there is always something going on at the Park!
