Chinese opera at the Sing Kew Theatre

An audience enjoying a performance at Sing Kew Theatre in Vancouver, 1935. Due to the Chinese Head Tax, early audiences were predominantly men. Once the Head Tax was repealed in 1947, families were reunited and the theatres were filled with men and women, elders and children.
